BrightPlay Toys is a family-owned toy company with over 20 years in the industry, known for producing educational and imaginative play products for children of all ages. Headquartered in Oregon, BrightPlay sells through a mix of specialty toy stores, national retailers, and a fast-growing e-commerce presence. While their B2B operations were well established and supported by a reliable operating system, the company had rapidly expanded into online marketplaces and DTC sales channels, including Amazon, Walmart Marketplace, Target.com, and their own Shopify store.
The Challenge
BrightPlay had been a loyal QuickBooks Enterprise user for their wholesale and back-office operations, but their limitations with multichannel e-commerce made it a hindrance to BrightPlay’s growth. BrightPlay had quickly come to understand that each online marketplace had its own requirements, order flows, and DTC fulfillment processes, and managing them independently was draining staff time and creating costly errors. Orders were sometimes delayed or fulfilled incorrectly due to manual pulling of the orders and managing data re-entry between systems. Inventory synchronization across multiple platforms was also a challenge, often leading to overselling on popular SKUs during peak seasons. The team needed a way to keep their trusted operating system in place while gaining the tools to efficiently manage all of their e-commerce channels in one streamlined process.
The Solution
Rather than replacing QuickBooks Enterprise, BrightPlay chose to integrate DigitBridge as a complementary system to handle their multichannel e-commerce needs. DigitBridge connected directly to all of BrightPlay’s online sales channels, pulling orders into a single centralized hub. From there, DigitBridge’s integration pushed the order information and invoices directly into BrightPlay’s existing QuickBooks Enterprises software for accounting purposes, DigitBridge’s WMS will manage the whole fulfillment processes, eliminating the need for manual re-entry and reducing fulfillment errors. Real-time inventory updates flowed back to each marketplace automatically by schedule, ensuring stock levels were always accurate. The integration also allowed BrightPlay to take the product information from QBE and create digital product content and customize product listings in DigitBridge PIM for each channel, ensuring their brand presentation and product details were optimized for every marketplace’s unique requirements.
